ABOUT US

HISTORY

VIDOL created its first Compliance Unit in March 2021 to administer, supervise and enforce or cause to be enforced the provisions of the of the Virgin Islands code by way of regulations, conduct investigations and institute remedial actions as may be required.

The Unit is staffed by two employees, a Chief Compliance Officer and a Senior Compliance Officer who cover the USVI territory. This team touches all units within the agency to confirm compliance with quarterly reporting, accuracy, injury claims, hearings and appeals, labor relations, worker’s compensation insurance, FEIN existence, active business license, corporation established.

Building the Compliance Unit to assist the business customer provides insight into how each unit is connected and helps the customer build accountable, reliable best practices. Accuracy is paramount.

Our goal is to ensure that job availability and sustainability is high on our priority list for the residents and non-residents in the USVI.

MEET

The Team

Stedmann Hodge, Jr.
Chief Compliance Officer

Stedmann has multiple decades of service to the Government of the Virgin Islands. He has served in the capacity of Labor Relations at the Virgin Islands Department of and the same at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital. He served one-term as a Senator in the 33rd Legislature of the Virgin Islands and now, he has returned to the Department of Labor as the Chief Compliance Officer.

Stedmann is a National Guard Reservist with twenty years of service to the US military. In addition to his compliance role, he also serves at the Equal Opportunity Officer working to ensure fairness in employment practices and balancing the treatment of our special needs and individuals with disabilities in our community

Tracy E. Callwood
Senior Compliance Officer

Tracy comes to the Department of Labor with vast experience in Human Resources, having served in Director roles, she has the expertise required for oversight and attention to detail required to manage the compliance arm.  She is the first to serve in the capacity of Senior Compliance Officer since the March 2021 creation of the new unit at VIDOL.

Tracy helps VIDOL maintain the regulatory gauge protecting the ethical integrity of the Unit.  She connects Unit practices to labor law and to avoid conflicts of interest, ensuring all processes and procedural requirements are met. In her role, she effectively communicates the key principals to business customers. Tracy supports the orientation of new and existing businesses supporting accuracy in reporting and suitable participation in beneficiary programs. She has worked to transform paper processes to electronic and is dedicated to converting the reporting process into a simplified.

The operational arm of the Compliance Unit is high functioning, keeping an eye on all developments ensuring that compliance processes ae fully implemented.
